On November 1st, the Nanhu International Education Week 2025, themed "Journey To Nanhu, World In ZUEL", grandly opened at the Nanhu Campus of Zhongnan University of Economics and Law. This Education Week brought together representatives from over 20 universities and 10 renowned enterprises from 13 countries around the world, along with more than 20,000 students and teachers from the university, to jointly launch an international exchange event integrating academia, culture, and career development.
The opening ceremony was attended by Hou Zhenfa, the Party Committee Secretary of Zhongnan University of Economics and Law, Zhu Fangwei, the President, Chen Shi, the Deputy Party Secretary, as well as foreign university leaders such as Sombat Thamrongthanyawong, the President of Walailak University in Thailand, Graham Wise, the Vice President of the University of Canterbury in New Zealand, and Nguyen Hoang Viet, the Vice President of Thuongmai University in Vietnam, along with representatives from enterprises. The ceremony was hosted by Liu Renshan, the Vice President of Zhongnan University of Economics and Law.
In his opening remarks, Zhu Fangwei extended a warm welcome to the guests and introduced the university's profound achievements in the fields of finance and law as a key university directly under the Ministry of Education, as well as its accomplishments in the "Double First-Class" initiative.
Several foreign university presidents shared their visions for future educational cooperation in their speeches.
Sombat Thamrongthanyawong, the President of Walailak University in Thailand, highly praised Zhongnan University of Economics and Law's achievements in digital innovation.。
Graham Wise, the Vice President of the University of Canterbury in New Zealand began his speech with a greeting in Maori and expressed his appreciation for the internationalization and research strength of Zhongnan University of Economics and Law.
In a friendly gift-giving ceremony, Hou Zhenfa presented silk scarves with the cultural imprint of Zhongnan University of Economics and Law to representatives from three partner universities, symbolizing enduring friendship and long-lasting cooperation. Subsequently, amid a countdown by the entire audience, Chinese and foreign guests jointly pushed the "start lever", marking the official beginning of the event and bringing the opening ceremony to a climax.
After the opening ceremony, a series of diverse cultural performances followed.From the melodious charm of Chinese Peking Opera to the exotic allure of Thai dance, from the bold and unrestrained Mongolian dance to the passionate Russian folk dance, students from various countries took the stage, fully showcasing a cultural spectacle of "each beauty in its own way, all beauties together".
This Education Week meticulously organized four major sections: the International Culture Festival, the Education Exhibition, the Theme Forum, and the Student Employment Exhibition. The event site featured over 40 national cultural booths, allowing teachers and students to experience the customs of different countries in an immersive way. Meanwhile, two cultural tours presented the distinctive programs of 16 countries.
The International Project Education Exhibition invited nearly 30 university admissions directors and representatives from prestigious institutions such as Oriel College, University of Oxford, Washington University in St. Louis, National University of Singapore, and the University of Southern California to have face-to-face exchanges with students from our university. It attracted hundreds of students to actively inquire, providing a diverse international education platform for our students and marking an important step in our university's efforts to cultivate international talents.
The International Education Forum, themed "Integration·Empowerment·Coexistence: New Models for International Cooperation in Higher Education", saw the gathering of university leaders from renowned institutions such as the University of Oxford, Cardiff University, the University of Reading, the University of Canterbury, Walailak University, and the National University of Kazakhstan, along with the heads of our university's international cooperation department, to jointly discuss the development of international higher education.
In addition, the International Student Employment Exhibition attracted leading domestic enterprises such as Zoomlion, BYD, JD.com, and China State Construction Engineering Corporation, building a bridge for students from both China and abroad to enter the workplace.
"Civilizations become more colorful through exchanges and richer through mutual learning."The Nanhu International Education Week 2025 is not only a window for display and exchange but also an important bridge connecting studies and careers, campus and the world. It marks a more solid step for Zhongnan University of Economics and Law on the path of internationalized education and is fully writing a new chapter in the opening up of education.
