On the morning of July 1, the 2025 Chinese Government Scholarship International Summer School of Zhongnan University of Economics and Law (ZUEL) officially opened at the North Auditorium of Wenhan Building. Over 200 faculty members and students from six countries including Russia, Vietnam, Argentina, and Italy gathered in Wuhan to embark on a two-week academic and cultural journey based on two programs——“The Silk Road Financial Future Leader” and “The Traditional Legal Culture of the Rule of Law and Diplomatic Practices of China’s Foreign Relations”. Attending the opening ceremony were Liu Renshan, Member of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee and Vice President, Zheng Ying, Dean of International Education School, Xu Weigong, Dean of the School of International Law, Hu Hongbing, Vice Dean of the School of Finance; and Zhang Bao, Vice Dean of the Law School. The opening ceremony was hosted by Li Muzi from International Education School of ZUEL.
Zheng Ying, Dean of the International Education School of ZUEL, addressed the students by quoting Han Feizi, a Chinese philosopher, saying thatfolk communication is key to national diplomacy.She stressed that with the help of the Summer School, throughactivities asacademic discussion and on-site visits, students would learn more about Chinese development and be “culture communicator” to tell China’s storywell.
As a representative of alumni, Chen Qingshui,professorfrom Foreign Trade University located in Vietnam touchingly recalled how the professional skills gained in ZUEL had made great influence on his career. Headed by him, students from three universities of Vietnam hoped to transformlegal and financial knowledge into professional developmentat thisreturning toZUEL.
Looking back the cooperation history of two parts, Del Mazo Matias,a student representative from Argentina,emphasized that education cooperation plays an important role in thestrategic partnership between China and Argentina. Then student representative Domnin David from Russia energized the audienceby calling out the inspiringslogan “Long live Sino-Russian friendship!” He also expressed his wishes to study furtherin China through courses and practices.
Liu Renshan, vice president of ZUEL, adopted Confucius’ philosophy on “harmony without uniformity” in his address. He encouraged students to apply economic and legal intelligence to improve global governance; nurture their mind through mutual learning among diverse civilizations; comprehend the social administration philosophy of “unity of knowledge and action” through China’s practice in the development of society. Finally, he solemnly declared the official opening of 2025 International Summer School.
In the next two weeks, students would visit landmarks in Wuhan: they would feel the pulse of China’s modernization along the Yangtze River, appreciate the charms of Chu and Han culture at the feet of Yellow Crane Tower, using the wisdom of youth to compose a new chapter in mutual learning among civilizations.
